Imran Qureshi, born in Hyderabad and based in Lahore, is one of Pakistan’s leading contemporary artists. A graduate of the National College of Arts (NCA), Lahore, where he now teaches miniature painting, Qureshi blends traditional Mughal techniques with modern, conceptual approaches in his work. His art often includes site-specific installations that respond to architectural spaces and engage with historical and political themes. Qureshi’s international acclaim includes major works like Blessings Upon the Land of My Love at the Sharjah Biennial (2011), They Shimmer Still at the Biennale of Sydney (2012), and his large-scale project for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Roof Garden in 2013. The same year, he was named Deutsche Bank’s Artist of the Year, leading to a solo exhibition in Berlin. His work has since been displayed in institutions such as the Barbican Centre, London, and Kunsten Museum, Denmark. He was honored with the prestigious Sitara-e-Imtiaz by Pakistan’s president, recognizing his contributions to art and culture. Qureshi’s art is deeply rooted in the miniature painting tradition but transformed into contemporary explorations of life, death, and socio-political realities. His vibrant installations, often using red acrylic paint, evoke both beauty and violence, symbolizing hope amid destruction. Inked is proud to have played a role in preserving and presenting Qureshi’s innovative artworks through our fine art printing services, contributing to the legacy of one of Pakistan’s most influential artists.
