Laila Rahman is an acclaimed Pakistani artist who works across the disciplines of painting and printmaking. Her educational journey includes studying at renowned institutions such as Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design, London, and the Slade School of Fine Art, London. She completed her BFA at the National College of Arts (NCA), Lahore, where she now heads the Printmaking and Digital Media Department. Rahman's distinctive art practice merges her skills in both painting and printmaking, reflecting her broad artistic vision. In 2010, she was awarded a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship, which allowed her to spend a year at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA), Boston. Her solo exhibition there marked a pivotal moment in her career. Her work is part of several prominent collections, including the House of Commons Permanent Collection in London, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and Cartwright Hall in Bradford. She has exhibited widely in Europe, the United States, Africa, and South Asia, gaining international recognition. Rahman’s contributions extend beyond her personal artistic practice; she has been a key figure in fostering cross-cultural collaborations, including the "Print Pals Portfolio Project" between NCA and the Slade School of Fine Art. Her printmaking work is celebrated for its intellectual depth and technical finesse, reflecting a blend of global influences and her deeply personal aesthetic.
