Professor Saeed Akhtar, a legendary figure in Pakistani art, is renowned for his masterful portraiture, particularly his iconic depictions of historical figures. Born in 1938 in Ghakhar, Akhtar studied at the National College of Arts (NCA), where he later became an esteemed teacher. His work has earned him many honors, including the Pride of Performance Award in 1994 and the Sitara-i-Imtiaz in 2012. Akhtar is celebrated for his detailed portraits, especially of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. His ability to capture both likeness and personality has made his art highly sought after. Beyond portraits, Akhtar’s work spans classical figurative themes and cultural symbolism, showcasing his versatility.
