Salima Hashmi

Salima Hashmi, a towering figure in Pakistan’s art scene, has left an indelible mark as both an artist and an educator. Born in New Delhi in 1942, she relocated to Lahore during the Partition in 1947, where she has played a pivotal role in shaping the country’s artistic landscape since the 1960s. Hashmi's journey as an artist is intertwined with her illustrious teaching career at the National College of Arts (NCA), where she served for nearly 30 years, including a term as Principal from 1995 to 1999. A recipient of Pakistan’s prestigious 'Pride of Performance for Arts' in 1999, she is celebrated for her contributions both within the country and abroad. Beyond the classroom, Salima Hashmi co-founded Lahore’s Rohtas 2 Gallery, a platform supporting young and emerging artists. Her works have been exhibited globally, with art shows curated across England, Europe, the United States, Australia, Japan, and India. Hashmi’s international exposure has earned her respect as an artist, curator, and lecturer worldwide. Inked is honored to have provided fine art printing services for Salima Hashmi’s works, supporting the legacy of one of Pakistan's most influential artists. Through our collaboration, we aim to preserve the depth, meaning, and mastery of her creations for future generations. Picture Credits: Sheraz Faisal
